5 WAYS to give yourself time right now

Here are some tips to help you unwind and rejuvenate..

  1. Have a good moan. Step into a quiet room and inhale. As you breathe out, let out a long, low sigh. Moan! Do it three times. You will feel so much “lighter” for it.
  2. Thank-you Notes. Take a piece of paper and write down five things that come to your mind when you ask yourself: “What am I grateful for in my life?” It might be your new shoes, or your friends always be there for you, or the fact that you didn’t get a parking ticket last night. This exercise hits the “positive switch” instantly.
  3. Clear the Clutter. Tidy your desk, organise your files, clear out a cupboard, weed the garden. A sense of satisfaction is a form of stress relief.
  4. iPod It. Crawl under your desk if you have to. Put in your earphones and play your all-time favourite song - just pick an uplifting, energising tune or a serene, inspiring piece.
  5. Breathe in Nature. Several essential oils hav powerful calming effects. Keep a bottle of lavender, sandalwood or chamomile oil handy and sniff as needed. Or dab a few drops of the oils on a hanky and carry it with you.
