Dressing wounds with honey may help them heal more quickly. Dr. Richard White, senior research fellow in tissue viability at Aberdeen Infirmary says, honey works well on chronic wounds. “Bees create natural chemicals to prevent honey from being spoiled by moulds and bacteria,” he says. “These chemicals can kill bacteria and reduce inflammation, particularly in wounds that don’t heal easily.” But it won’t work with any old honey. “It has to be of a medical grade, and you’ll need to ask you doctor if honey is an appropriate dressing before trying it.
